‘The Elephant Man’ (1980)

Poignant drama about the tragic life of the insensitively named “Elephant Man” Joseph “John” Merrick, a man in Victorian England who suffered from an extreme condition which resulted in grotesque physical deformities that made him a social pariah and side-show freak, after a warm-hearted doctor decides to treat Merrick we learn the true sensitive nature of the man treated like a beast and whose life was destined to end tragically.

Directed by David Lynch and starring John Hurt, Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft among others.
