The 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards took place in Beverly Hills on Sunday night with all the usual glitz, glamour and red-carpet frenzy that comes with it, there was also the small matter of recognizing the great work done for TV and Film in 2015 and here at FilmPhonic we give you a recap on the Movie nominees and winners this year.
Writer/director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s biographical frontier survival drama ‘The Revenant’ was the night’s big winner, taking home several major awards including best picture-drama and providing Leonardo Di Caprio with his 2nd Golden Globe for acting in a drama.
Once again the Hollywood Foreign Press amused us in the best film musical or comedy category by nominating and awarding Ridley Scott’s dramatic, albeit funny, Sci-fi epic ‘The Martian’, as well as its star Matt Damon for best “comedy’ performance. They also baffled us by awarding Sylvester Stallone the best supporting actor prize for ‘Creed’, nobody loves “Sly” more than us but a curious decision given the alternatives.

As usual let’s all remember that film criticism is subjective and we all have our opinions on who should win what and why, the important thing is that the majority of the nominees at these shows deserve recognition for great work done, but no more than the many who often do not feature at all.
