Rather expectedly ‘The Revenant’ leads the field with nominations in most of the major categories, followed thankfully by ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, plenty of nominations for ‘Spotlight’ and ‘The Big Short’, as well as Steven Spielberg’s‘Bridge of Spies’.
As always there will be many eyebrows raised by some of the nominations and consequent exclusions, and plenty of disappointment to go around. For us it’s the continued trend this awards season of ignoring arguably the best film of the year ‘Sicario’ and subsequent snubs in most of the major categories.
Let’s see how things play out on the night, we’ve given our picks on who we think should win but there are as always many films in 2015 that are not nominated and deserve recognition.

#TriviaTuesday: A cost-cutting insect-like suit was the early design for the alien hunter in 1987's 'Predator'—unsuccessfully worn by the character's first actor Jean-Claude Van Damme—but it was ditched for a now iconic Stan Winston design at twice the price. Money well spent. pic.twitter.com/pvbTmpgUIB
#TriviaTuesday: ‘Big Kahuna Burger’ is most certainly the fictional fast food of choice in the Tarantinoverse, appearing or referenced in 'Reservoir Dogs', 'From Dusk Till Dawn', 'Death Proof', 'Four Rooms', as well as its starring turn in 1994’s 'Pulp Fiction' of course. pic.twitter.com/k3xVsbDuA6
