Love was in the air this Sunday the 14th of February as both Valentine’s day and the biggest night in British cinema arrived at the Royal Opera House in London as the BAFTAs rolled into town, the usual red carpet scramble was here for everyone to see and actor/writer/comedian extraordinaire Stephen Fry returned as host for the evening for the 11th time.
Having gotten over the disappointment of the complete lack of recognition for one of the very best films of the year ‘Sicario’, both here and at every other award ceremony, plus the limited technical love shown for ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, we were unsurprised but satisfied by the success of this year’s front runner ‘The Revenant’ in several major categories. But there was no clean sweep this year and the BAFTA masks were spread out among many different nominees in another strong and varied year for film.
Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the night was the conspicuous absence of many a nominee and winner, nevertheless here are the nominees, winners and our picks for this year;

Once again we must stress that award shows are subjective and we can endlessly debate over who should win what, this is a chance for films and their filmmakers to be recognized for another great year of work so congratulations to all the winners and nominees as well as the many deserving films which were not recognized;
Let us know what you think of the BAFTAs this year and what your picks were.
