Eerie period mystery/horror set at the end of World War II in the British Channel Islands starring Nicole Kidman as a mother of two children with a rare condition that makes them allergic to sunlight. When three new servants come to work at their isolated manor house, things take a sinister turn as the bizarre circumstances under which they live start to change.
Harking back to an age of psychologically suspenseful horror and yet refreshing in the modern age of graphic orgies of violence and heavy CGI, ‘The Others’ features not a drop of blood or ghoulish manifestation of evil and yet manages to be scary and hold a sense of foreboding throughout.
Creepy, suspenseful and refreshing for a 21st century horror, ‘The Others’ is just as much a period mystery and features a monumental twist which changes the context of the entire film and makes it one of the more under-appreciated modern additions to the genre.
Directed by Alejandro Amenábar and starring Nicole Kidman, Christopher Eccleston and Fionnula Flanagan among others.
#TriviaTuesday: A cost-cutting insect-like suit was the early design for the alien hunter in 1987's 'Predator'—unsuccessfully worn by the character's first actor Jean-Claude Van Damme—but it was ditched for a now iconic Stan Winston design at twice the price. Money well spent. pic.twitter.com/pvbTmpgUIB
#TriviaTuesday: ‘Big Kahuna Burger’ is most certainly the fictional fast food of choice in the Tarantinoverse, appearing or referenced in 'Reservoir Dogs', 'From Dusk Till Dawn', 'Death Proof', 'Four Rooms', as well as its starring turn in 1994’s 'Pulp Fiction' of course. pic.twitter.com/k3xVsbDuA6
