After moving into their new quiet American suburban home, a family experiences a series of strange events somehow linked to their daughter, after she disappears they will try any unorthodox method to get her back while fighting against the sinister supernatural forces in their once picture-postcard home.
Produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre), ‘Poltergeist’ is perhaps the most famous haunted house movie ever, introducing the very term ‘Poltergeist’ into the popular lexicon, a simple but effective film that takes some of the core elements of ‘The Amityville Horror‘ and gives them a slick Hollywood treatment.
Visually groundbreaking for the time with a solid plot and a believable family dynamic supported by strong performances, ‘Poltergeist’ is a true Horror classic which didn’t need 21st century facelift . . . but got one anyway.
Directed by Tobe Hooper and starring JoBeth Williams, Craig T. Nelson and Heather O’Rourke among others.
#TriviaTuesday: A cost-cutting insect-like suit was the early design for the alien hunter in 1987's 'Predator'—unsuccessfully worn by the character's first actor Jean-Claude Van Damme—but it was ditched for a now iconic Stan Winston design at twice the price. Money well spent. pic.twitter.com/pvbTmpgUIB
#TriviaTuesday: ‘Big Kahuna Burger’ is most certainly the fictional fast food of choice in the Tarantinoverse, appearing or referenced in 'Reservoir Dogs', 'From Dusk Till Dawn', 'Death Proof', 'Four Rooms', as well as its starring turn in 1994’s 'Pulp Fiction' of course. pic.twitter.com/k3xVsbDuA6
