Golden Globe Awards 2025

Spread the love

After a recent history of HFPA controversy, boycotts and takeovers, and last year’s successful return after one of the most tumultuous years in recent Hollywood history thanks to 2023’s WGA & SAG-AFTRA writers & actors strike, not to mention an industry in general perilous flux, the year’s first big film & TV awards ceremony took place this Sunday as the 82nd edition of the Golden Globe Awards rolled into tinseltown.

Despite another difficult year for the industry at the box office, in boardrooms, and on the streets, cinema as well as television were once again celebrated in Beverly Hills as an eclectic selection of films were nominated for the big prizes with the field being led by Jacques Audiard’s unconventional crime musical ‘Emilia Pérez’ with 10 nominations, Brady Corbet’s post-war American dream epic ‘The Brutalist’ with 7, and Edward Berger’s Vatican political papal thriller ‘Conclave’ with 6. So we recap the big film award nominees and winners this year . . . plus our personal picks.

As usual let’s all remember that film criticism is subjective and we all have our opinions on who should win what and why, the important thing is that the majority of the nominees at these shows deserve recognition for great work done, but no more than the many who often do not feature at all.
