Based on a true story, Jon Hamm stars as a down-on-his-luck American sports agent who gambles on a strategy of scouting Indian cricketers through an X-factor-like talent contest to become Major League Baseball players.

A cross between Jerry Maguire and Slumdog Millionaire but with very PG sensibilities, Million Dollar Arm is a family-friendly comedy/drama based on a remarkable true story but with liberal sprinkling of Disney magic to make it your typical heart-warming underdog story.

The storyline and character-arc for all the characters is predictable to say the least and in particular the lead character played by Hamm, this is clearly a case of life and art imitating each other with the agents in the film seeing a huge opportunity in the Indian market for their product just as Disney are doing with this film.

Despite all this the comedy that stems from the clash of cultures is effective as are the performances by Alan Arkin and the 2 young Indian lead actors, Million Dollar Arm is light heart-warming film for the whole family.
