A “re-launch”/sequel picking up where the classic 80’s post-apocalyptic franchise left off, in a desolate desert landscape the mysterious drifter Max is forced to join forces with a tough and determined woman on the dangerous road to the “promised-land”, but they’ll need more than determination to survive the brutal overlord on their tail.

madmaxfuryroadstill2Tom Hardy stars as the “Road Warrior” himself taking over the role that made Mel Gibson a global star but bringing it kicking & screaming into the 21st century, writer/director George Miller finally brings his 30 year-old vision to the big-screen with spectacular consequences.

Quite simply ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is an absolute triumph of the action genre taking it to a level we haven’t seen for decades, high-octane and deliciously crazy, immersive and epic in scale, the ultimate “road movie”.

It’s visually stunning with breathtaking cinematography perfectly capturing the majesty of the Namibian and Australian deserts where it was filmed, the storyline is simple and effective with a moral center “borrowing” many of the elements that made ‘Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior’ so memorable, unlike most modern action films the performances are strong all around particularly from Hardy and Theron in the lead roles.

madmaxfuryroadstill1When you add the breathtaking action sequences, the heart of the movie, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ has so much more to offer than any pure action film from this century, perhaps ever, George Miller’s madcap genius combined with a large budget results in the film he always intended to make.

Let’s make this clear tough, if you’re an action fan then you might lose your mind over this film, if not then stay away cause it’ll be too much to take, for everyone else expect two hours of madly original non-stop entertainment with a conscience and action sequences that make ‘The Fast and the Furious’ look like a high-school film project.

The Bottom Line…

Not for the faint-hearted or non-action fans but as good as this kind of film can be, director George Miller re-ignites the genre he revolutionized and fits a 21st century turbocharger to his 1980’s franchise with ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ leaving almost every other modern action film in its dust.
