Top 5 Classical Music Movie Moments

Spread the love

We at FilmPhonic love a great original score, but we can’t resist wonderful visuals set to the backdrop of an often unrelated iconic classical melody that somehow works perfectly… and gives us a timeless movie moment.

There are many examples but we’ve tried to pick our Top 5, what’s yours?

#5:

The Marriage of Figaro Overture in ‘Trading Places’ (1983)

Paramount Pictures

The classic 80s John Landis clash-of-classes comedy that helped to propel Eddie Murphy to stardom and cement Dan Aykroyd’s comedic reputation; a film that surprisingly took inspiration from classic literature and culture.

Particularly from Mozart’s comic opera “The Marriage of Figaro”, with which it shares many themes, so it’s only fitting that Landis use that magical overture to introduce us to Philadelphia’s prince and his paupers.

Directed by John Landis and starring Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd and Jamie Lee Curtis among others.

Genre: Comedy
