Spread the love

#1:

The Thing (1982)

Universal

thething1In a subtle but terrifying alien invasion classic; John Carpenter directs and Kurt Russell stars as the leader of an American Arctic research team who encounter a dangerous ancient alien organism capable of assimilating and imitating anyone, leaving them all in a paranoid fight for survival.

Carpenter’s remake of one of the earliest alien invasion films, 1951’s ‘The Thing from Another World’, is to many one of the greatest Sci-fi horrors ever made.Visually brilliant, isolated and sinister in both tone & atmosphere; the film reflects the communist paranoia of the time while using masterful and grotesque creature effects to deliver an unforgettable experience that’s gone from cult favorite, to all-time classic in the last 35 years.

Directed by John Carpenter and starring Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley and Keith David among others.

Genre: Sci-fi, Horror

-District 9 (2009) (More immigration than invasion and currently very politically relevant)
