Academy Awards 2018

Spread the love

oscarsbanner1This year’s award season express made its final stop on Sunday evening in Hollywood California for the biggest night in global cinema, as the great and the good of world film assembled for the 90th edition of the Academy Awards.

As Jimmy Kimmel returned to less eventful hosting duties, the subject of sexual harassment and female empowerment continued to dominate the conversation, while a general theme of social consciousness ran throughout the show, and of course some golden statuettes were awarded for achievement in film—with Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water’ winning the big one and just about leading a fairly even field.

Although all award shows are subjective and we can endlessly debate over who should win for what, or even be nominated, this is a chance for films and their filmmakers to be globally recognised for another great twelve months of work, so let’s see who the nominees and big winners (and our picks) are this year.
