8: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (130min)

The sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes is set in post apocalyptic earth where the small pockets of remaining humans struggle to survive while the apes thrive and continue to evolve, inevitably things come to a head. As expected the action and CGI is beyond impressive but it’s the story and characters, particularly the simian ones, which make this one of the best blockbuster films of the year.
