#1:

‘Alien’ (1979)

alien_146x216alienstill1The crew of a space mining vessel returning from their mission are diverted to a distress signal on a strange planet, after exploring it they are forced to return with an alien stowaway whose deadly nature they are about to discover.

Not only is ‘Alien’ one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made, it’s also one of the best horror pictures and arguably the most visceral thriller of all time. A triumphant combination of a flawless aesthetic borne from Ridley Scott’s attention to detail and a simple but enthralling story.

The creation of the stunning and timeless “Xenomorph” gave birth to one of the most iconic cinematic creatures whose design still holds up 36 years later, which when combined with the gripping narrative, broke the boundaries of what Sci-fi could be and launched the career of a visionary filmmaker.

Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt and John Hurt among others.

Genre: Sci-fi, Horror, Thriller
