October proved to be another month of eclectic Atumnal releases, with everything from big studio pictures like Tom Cruise’s return in ‘Jack Reacher: Never Go Back’ and spy action/comedy ‘Keeping Up with the Joneses’, to indies like bizarre comedy ‘Swiss Army Man’ and raw coming-of-age road drama ‘American Honey’, as well as Ken Loach’s moral outrage social drama ‘I, Daniel Blake’. The month also saw the “Marvel Cinematic Universe” take a trippy, multi-dimensional left-turn and the addition of Benedict Cumberbatch to the dysfunctional family, with the UK release of ‘Doctor Strange’.
London Calling
October for UK audiences and the British film industry was dominated by the the 60th edition of the annual BFI London Film Festival, with nearly 250 films from all corners of the globe being showcased during 12 days of film appreciation, as well as the obligatory red carpet galas and celeb-watching of course.
