2014YIF_ArticlePic10There was a distinct blockbuster tint to the month of April with a varied selection of big-budget releases from Divergent to animated sequel Rio 2 and Marvel’s Spider-Man re-boot sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

We also saw visionary director Darren Aronofsky ambitiously take on no less than the bible with Noah starring Russell Crowe in the title role.

2014YIF_ArticlePic10bApril saw the much anticipated cast announcement of perhaps the most anticipated film of all time the new Star Wars movie Episode VII – The Force Awakens directed by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek), this will be the first Star Wars movie brought to us by Disney since their purchase of Lucasfilm and no doubt will be one of many for years to come.

We at FilmPhonic will not be reporting on every rumour, leak and trailer for a film that comes out at the end of 2015 and thus ruining much of the wonder and enjoyment of actually watching it for the first time, we will however remind you of whom you can expect to see in December 2015.

Much of the cast of the original trilogy returns in a story set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, there are also a range of young and not so young talent joining the cast with a distinctly British feel, here are the announced cast members;

Original Cast:-

Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2).

New Cast (roles are not yet known):-

Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Gwendoline Christie
