A quick note about award shows; all art criticism is subjective and a matter of opinion, you like what you like and for your own reasons, so the notion of giving awards for best anything in Movie performance is ridiculous.
Having said that these shows have become an entity unto themselves, and in particular the Oscars, they matter and can make careers. Let’s remember that for the most part the people and films nominated deserve recognition, even though we might argue about who wins and who never gets nominated in the first place.
With all that being established, the 2nd of March signified the biggest night in the Movie industry with the arrival of the 86th Academy Awards (Oscars), notable winners were;
Best Picture
Best Director
Best Cinematography
Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role
and
Best Supporting Actor and Actress
and
Best Screenplay (Original)
Best Screenplay (Adapted)

Perhaps not a name you will recognize but a face you surely will, character actor James Rebhorn died in March of melanoma complications at 65, a perennial authority figure and often unlikable in films like Scent of a Woman, Independence Day and Meet the Parents.
